Beekin | beekin@beekin.com JOHN 6:39-40 - "And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day." In the Summer of 2000, Erick Wilson was playing drums for a well known Texas band, Moderndayjohn. During his time with this band, God spoke to him and started to reveal the plans he had for Erick's life. After fighting and not wanting to believe it was true, Erick finally let go and decided to follow God. This is what was revealed to Erick over that summer: MATTHEW 22:37-39 - "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it, Love your neighbor as yourself." When Erick became a Christian, God gave him the gift of drums and that was hard to let go of when God called him out of playing the drums. What God called Erick to do, was to be the lead singer of a Christian crossover band whose mission was to go into the world and be an example of Christ through the way they lived their lives. ModernDayJohn was a very talented group of individuals who was going places and was on the verge of making it big in the Christian Rock market. Erick didn't want to give that up to start a band that could take years to get to that same high place he was currently in. But, he took the leap of faith and followed God and so was born "Beekin", a Christian crossover band whose sound will represent the hard rock of the secular rock industry with it's own flair and touch creating a new sound that people want to hear,(currently following the footsteps of Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Korn, P.O.D., etc...) and whose #1 focus as a ministry is to be a servant to other people by showing them what love really is.
CALLED TO LOVE: God laid a calling on our hearts to go into the world and reveal his love through our actions and words that all may look to the Son and believe on him and have eternal life. We are called to deliver a relational experience through our lyrics while at the same time, glorifying God. We are called to perform a style of music that is a direct relation to that of the secular rock industry. We are called to perform in secular venues, mainstream events as well as Christian venues and churches. We are called to testify of the love of God off stage by relating with the people in our audience through our testimonies and actions of being love. We are called to have a straight and narrow walk so that no fault may be found within us. We are called to minister with life excerpts and testimonies on stage when led by the Holy Spirit. We are called to focus on an intimate, personal, and everlasting relationship with our creator and Heavenly Father. We are called to minister to each other as a group by edifying each other in our faith and our walk. Just as Matthew 25:14-30 speaks of the servants given talents by the master, we are called to take our talents and multiply them and give them back to God. We are called to do our individual band jobs not to please the band, but to please the Lord. We are called to Love.
